Sunny and Steep is a climbing area in the La Madre Mountain Wilderness, on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Red Rock/Sloan Field Office in Nevada. The surrounding wilderness and BLM field office make this a backcountry destination within a larger network of public land. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 70°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. Several climbing areas sit right next door, including Winter Heat Wall about 0.1 mile away and Base Boulder and South Seas Bouldering each about 0.2 mile off. For a hike, Gene's Trail is roughly 0.8 mile away. Red Rock Canyon Campground, about 3.4 miles away, offers a place to stay.
