Sierra Canyon is a hard hike in the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 19.5 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of 3,479 feet, taking you from a low point of about 4,956 feet to a high of about 8,448 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Dagget Pass weather station, about 3.4 miles away, show July highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, and the trail sits higher than the station, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler.
