Marlette Trail or Bear Mtn is a hard, 6.9-mile out-and-back hike in Nevada's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, on Forest Service land. The trail runs from a low of about 6,650 feet to a high of about 8,360 feet, with a total elevation gain of roughly 1,900 feet. It is managed by the Forest Service. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. A nearby weather station at Dagget Pass, about 13 miles away and roughly 1,000 feet lower, records typical July and August highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F and only one or two wet days a month. Winter highs there average in the mid-30s, and lows drop to around 23°F. The Chimney Beach Trail starts just 0.2 miles away, and the Marlette Creek Trail is about 0.6 miles off. Climbers can find the East Face and South Face climbing areas about 2 miles away. Washoe Lake State Park Campground lies roughly 9 miles from the trail.
