Lone Pine Springs is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.9 miles in the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The trail rises about 344 feet from a low point of 8,324 feet to a high of 8,672 feet, and it is open year-round. The route is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The nearest town is Tonopah, and the trail sits within the Forest Service's national forest system. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 83°F with lows near 48°F, while winter highs sit in the low 40s. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler.
