Kolcheck is a 13.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Ely Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from about 6,940 feet to a high point of 9,924 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,767 feet, and it is rated hard. The trail is natural-surfaced and open to horses, and bikes are not allowed. The open season runs from about June 15 to October 30, so plan around those dates for the most comfortable conditions. The Kolcheck Basin Trail lies about 0.8 miles away, and North Fork Cleve Creek and Kraft Canyon are both within a few miles. For an overnight stay, Cleve Creek Campground is about 3.3 miles off.
