Charleston Peak Trail South Loop is a hard hike in Nevada's Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back that covers about 16.8 miles with a total elevation gain of 4,248 feet. The route starts at a low point of about 7,667 feet and climbs to a high of about 11,915 feet. Bikes are not allowed on this trail, so plan on hiking it on foot. The trail sits among a cluster of other destinations. Echo Trail and Cathedral Rock Picnic Area are each about 0.1 mile away, and the climbing area Belltower is about the same distance. Fletcher View campground lies about 1.8 miles off.
