Blackjack is a short, easy hike on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in Nevada, set at about 7,400 feet. It's an out-and-back with a total of about 0.9 miles and roughly 257 feet of elevation gain and loss, and the steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.11 miles into the route, where the grade reaches about 14%. The hike fits easily into a day of exploring the surrounding area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Incline Village run to highs around 76°F in July and August, with lows near 50°F. That station sits about 1,100 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. The trail is close to several other destinations. Allison Ridge is about 0.9 miles away, and Rose Knob Peak is about 1.3 miles away. Climbers can find Trippy Rock about 1.6 miles off, and Lake Tahoe - North Shore is about 2.9 miles away for fishing.
