Woods Gulch - Lincoln Hills Tie is an easy hike of about 3 miles on natural surface in the Missoula Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in western Montana. The trail rises from a low point of about 4,491 feet to a high point of about 4,788 feet, and it is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of roughly 190 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. The trip starts at the Woods Gulch Trailhead, which is open year-round, and the trail is suitable for both hikers and mountain bikers. The route is short and gentle, with a low climb that makes it easy to fit into a longer day on the surrounding network of trails. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Missoula show July and August highs around 85°F with lows in the low 50s, while September cools to highs near 73°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Three Larches and Three Larches Cutoff both lie about 0.1 mile away, and the Marshall Grade mountain biking route is also close by. For an overnight stay, Pattee Canyon Picnic Area is about 8 miles off.
