Leckrone Creek is an easy, out-and-back hike in the Libby Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, about 1.3 miles long with a total elevation gain of 474 feet. The trail runs on natural surface, and it's open for biking. The trip starts and ends at a low point around 4,559 feet and reaches a high of about 5,062 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Libby put July and August highs near 78°F with lows around 40°F and only about six wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,600 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. The Forest Service lists the open season as June 1 to November 30. Fisher Divide lies about 2.9 miles away, and Swamp Creek and Smoke Creek are both within 6 miles. For overnight stays, Howard Lake Campground is about 9 miles off.
