Lake Solitude is a 6.6-mile out-and-back hike in Montana's Lee Metcalf Wilderness, part of the Bozeman Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest. The trail climbs from about 8,525 feet to 9,469 feet, a gain of 662 feet, and is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is on natural surface. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The trip is open year-round, and the surrounding wilderness makes it a destination for a full day in the backcountry. The trail is a natural fit for horseback riders, and the route's length and climb mean planning for time and supplies is essential. Nearby, High Lakes lies about 1.4 miles away and Spanish Lakes about 2.1 miles. Beehive Peak, a climbing area, is about 2.8 miles off, and Spanish Creek Cabin offers a place to stay about 6 miles away.
