High Lake is a moderate hike of about 4.5 miles in the Stevensville Ranger District of Montana's Bitterroot National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back that gains about 1,939 feet, starting around 5,436 feet and reaching a high point of 7,489 feet. The route is natural-surfaced and rated moderate, with the climb spread across the round trip. Because the trail is out-and-back, the one-way gain is about half that, roughly 1,000 feet. The climb to High Lake starts right next to the Parking Lot Wall climbing area, which sits just 0.1 mile away. Blodgett Creek lies about a mile off, and Sears Lake and Hauf Lake are both within about 3 miles. Blodgett Campground is roughly 5.5 miles away.
