Lake Alva Campground Complex sits at the north end of Lake Alva in the Seeley Lake Ranger District of Montana's Lolo National Forest, about 15 miles from the Mission Mountain Wilderness. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site offers lake access for swimming, fishing and boating, along with opportunities for wildlife and bird watching. Group sites have been closed since at least 2021 and 2022 due to safety concerns, so plan for individual sites only. All boats on Lake Alva must stay at no-wake speed year-round. Vault toilets are the only amenity on site, and a fee is charged. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July and August highs reach about 83°F with lows in the low 40s, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Seeley Lake. Winters are cold, with January highs around 32°F. The Richmond Clearwater Loop South hike starts less than a mile away, and Rainy Lake West and Rainy Lake East are each about a mile off. Lakeside Campground (Old Alva) is roughly 1.3 miles away.
