Williams Field is a cross-country ski loop of about half a mile on the Appleton Farms Grass Rides in Massachusetts, managed by a non-governmental organization. The route is a flat, easy loop with no elevation gain, and the highest point on the trail reaches about 36 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about a quarter of a mile in, with a 10% grade. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Beverly show January highs around 37°F with about four snow days, while February runs slightly warmer at about 39°F with five snow days. Snow days drop to zero from April through October. Several other ski routes sit within half a mile, including the HQ Loop, Campus loop and Grass Rides Loop. For a change of pace, the Maplecroft Trail is about 2.4 miles away.
