Twin Pines Loop is a short, easy cross-country ski route in northern Maine, about 6 miles from the town of Norcross. The out-and-back trail is just under a quarter mile long, with a total climb of about 19 feet, so it's a flat, low-effort outing. Winter is the natural season for this route. Typical averages from the nearby Millinocket weather station show January highs around 24°F with lows near 5°F, while March runs a bit milder at highs around 36°F. That station sits about 236 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the loop run a little cooler. Several other routes start close by. Katahdin View, a cross-country ski route, and the Golden Road and Lakeside Trail hikes are each about 0.1 mile away. For paddling, the West Branch Penobscot River is roughly 8 miles off.
