E: Bouldering is a bouldering area in Illinois, set within Ferne Clyffe State Park on the Mississippi Bluffs Ranger District of Shawnee National Forest. The land is managed by the State Department of Natural Resources, and the bouldering sits among several other climbing areas and trails, including Cedar Bluff and the Cedar Bluff Trail, all within about a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all bouldering, with six routes spread across the V2 to V5 range on the V scale. The easiest are Baptist and Pink Maynjo at V2, and the hardest is Hueco Problem at V5. Holy Ghost and The Son sit at V3 and V4. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Anna run to highs around 71°F in April and 73°F in October, while July highs average about 90°F. Lick Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 1.2 miles away, and Lake Of Egypt - Buck Ridge Camping Area is about 9 miles off.
