Solstice is a climbing area in Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest, within the Lost River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several other climbing spots and a short hike, making it a compact base for a day of rock. The climbing here is sport and trad, with six routes in total. Five are sport, and one is trad. The grades run from 5.10b up to 5.14a, with the hardest route, Mind Your Manners, at 5.14a. The Solstice route itself is a 5.12a/b sport climb, and Enter the Dragon, a 5.13c/d trad route, rounds out the options. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 47°F, while winter brings highs in the low 30s and regular snow days from December through February. That station sits about 1,500 feet lower than the area, so temperatures at the crag run cooler. The closest neighbors are Yellow Cake, The Head Wall and The Fins, all about 0.1 mile away, and the Climber's Path hike. Farther out, Jumpoff Peak is about 4.4 miles away.
