Upper Rim is a short, moderate mountain biking route in Idaho, set on state land managed by the State Department of Land. The climb is an out-and-back of about 1.6 miles, with a total elevation gain of 346 feet. The route starts at roughly 6,138 feet and reaches a high point of about 6,391 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 14%. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in McCall show July and August highs around 81°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter highs stay near freezing. Payette Rim lies about half a mile away, and the Brundage To Bear Basin Trail is about 1.9 miles off. Climbers can head to The Thinking Spot, about 2.5 miles away, and paddlers to Goose Creek, about 4.2 miles away.
