Rocky Road is a short, hard mountain biking route on Bureau of Land Management land in the Challis Field Office of eastern Idaho. The out-and-back trail is about 1.4 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 528 feet, climbing from a low point of 5,767 feet to a high of 6,057 feet before returning. The steepest stretch comes early, around 19% grade, and the route is rated hard. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Challis put July highs near 87°F with lows around 52°F, and September highs near 74°F with lows around 42°F. That station sits about 1,000 feet lower than the route's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The Cutoff and Lower Blue View mountain biking routes are both within half a mile, and the Overlook route and Rumble hike are each about 0.4 miles away.
