Lower Blue View is a mountain biking route on Bureau of Land Management land in Idaho's Challis Field Office, about a mile from the town of Challis. The ride is an out-and-back of roughly 1.9 miles, with a total climb of about 1,000 feet from the start at about 5,900 feet to a high point of about 6,600 feet. The route is rated hard, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.5 miles in, with a grade of about 30 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Challis show July highs around 87°F with lows near 52°F, while winter highs stay near 29°F. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. Several other routes and trails start within a tenth of a mile, including the Overlook mountain biking spot and the Rumble and Cutoff hikes. For an overnight stay, Big Bayhorse Campground is about 9 miles away.
