Woodtick Creek is a hard hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 4,459 feet to about 8,669 feet, with a total gain of about 8,489 feet over roughly 13.7 miles. The steepest stretch comes at about 6.2 miles in, with a grade of about 27 percent. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The route is long and steep, so plan for a full day on foot. The W Fk Camas Creek trail starts just 0.4 miles away, and Macarte Ridge, Sleeping Deer Lo and Rock Lake are all within about 3 miles.
