Warren Creek is a short out-and-back hike of about 0.6 miles with a one-way elevation gain of 276 feet, starting at a low point of 3,810 feet and reaching a high point of 4,093 feet. The route lies entirely within the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, part of the McCall Ranger District of the Payette National Forest in Idaho, and is managed by the Forest Service. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Dixie put July and August highs around 77°F with lows in the upper 30s, while temperatures at the trail's higher end run cooler than at the station. Winters are cold, with January highs near 33°F and lows around 5°F. Other trails are close by. James Creek is about 1.2 miles away, and the Salmon River Trail #96 and Sugarloaf Ridge are both within about 4 miles. For an overnight stay, Mackay Bar campground is roughly 7 miles off.
