Shoshone Indian Trail is a hard hike of about 6.6 miles in the Montpelier Ranger District of Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 2,513 feet, rising from a low point of roughly 5,955 feet to a high of about 8,717 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Willow Flat Campground sits less than a mile away, and the Willow Flat and Willow Flat Alt hikes are close by for anyone wanting to pair this route with another outing.
