Royal Gorge is a hard hike in the Fairfield Ranger District of Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest, about 8 miles from the town of Easley Hot Springs. The trail is an out-and-back of about 10 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 1,300 feet from a low point near 7,000 feet to a high point around 9,000 feet. The trail is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes, according to the Forest Service's trail records. That makes it a versatile route for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Several other trails sit within a few miles, including Norton Creek-Prairie Creek, Miner Creek-Prairie and Norton-Miner Canyon. For an overnight stay, Chemeketan Campground is about 7 miles away.
