Pole Creek is a hard hike of about 10.8 miles in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, part of the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Idaho. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of about 3,042 feet, from a low point of about 5,921 feet to a high of about 8,962 feet. The trail surface is natural, and horses are allowed. Bikes are not. The route passes through designated wilderness, so plan on a serious climb over a long distance. Melville Ridge lies less than a mile away, and Woodtick Ridge and Camas Creek are within about 3.5 miles. Rock Lake is also within about 4.6 miles.
