The Little Weiser River hike is an out-and-back route in Idaho's Payette National Forest, within the Council Ranger District. The trail is about 11.4 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 1,424 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 4,600 feet to a high of about 6,000 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 82°F with only four or five wet days a month, while winter highs stay near freezing. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trail is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. Grouse Creek is about 2 miles away, and Big Flat campground is about 3 miles off. Indian Mountain and Fall Creek are about 3.6 miles away, and French Creek campground is about 7 miles away.
