Little Jureano Creek is a hard hike in Idaho's Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District, part of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 4,500 feet to nearly 8,000 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 1,980 feet over a route of roughly 13 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jackson, Montana, show July highs around 77°F with lows near 42°F, and the station sits about 1,500 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler. The trail is open from about June 15 to November 15. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail, and several other hikes lie within a few miles, including White Horse Basin Trail and Big Deer Creek, both about 2.5 miles away. Pony Lake is about 6 miles off, and McDonald Flat Campground is about 10 miles away.
