Lake Point is a hard hike of about 4.8 miles in the New Meadows Ranger District of Payette National Forest in Idaho, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a climb of about 1,829 feet, taking you from roughly 3,477 feet up to about 5,329 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July and August highs reach about 79°F with lows in the mid-30s, according to averages from a nearby weather station at Warren. Winters are cold, with January highs around 35°F. The trail is natural-surfaced and bikes are allowed. Two other hikes, Patrick Butte Trail and Lake Creek, start about half a mile away. Lake Creek Trail is about 1.4 miles off. For an overnight stay, Shorts Bar campground sits about 5.4 miles away.
