Idaho Mine is an easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Teton Basin Ranger District. The trail is about 2.6 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 327 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 6,805 feet to a high of about 7,136 feet. The route is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from about April 15 through November 30. Parking is at a site called Probation. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Tetonia show July and August highs around 78°F with lows in the mid-40s, while winter highs stay near 27°F. Several other hikes sit close by. South Packsaddle Lake is about 1.4 miles away, Southbound is about 1.9 miles away, and Dude Creek is about 2.1 miles away. North Packsaddle Lake is about 2.2 miles away.
