Wright is a 3.5-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Teton Basin Ranger District. The trail rises from about 7,400 feet to a high point of 8,058 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,323 feet over the round trip. The climb is rated hard, and the steepest stretch comes early, with a grade of 18% at about 0.14 miles in. The trail is on natural surface and is open to both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible route. The Forest Service manages the land, and the hike is open year-round, with an estimated time of about two hours. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Alta, Wyoming, show July highs around 79°F and lows near 48°F, with no snow days. That station sits about 1,600 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. North Packsaddle Lake and South Packsaddle Lake are both within about 2 miles. Idaho Mine is about 2.9 miles away, and Calamity Creek is about 4.1 miles away.
