Ice Cove is a moderate hike of about 3.8 miles in the Palisades Ranger District of Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 1,492 feet, starting at roughly 6,611 feet and reaching about 8,096 feet at the high point. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 79°F with lows near 43°F, and August is similar at about 78°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trail is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. East Fork Palisades Creek and North Fork Palisades Creek both start about 0.1 mile away, and Corral Canyon is about 0.7 mile off. For an overnight, Trail Creek campground in Wyoming is about 5.6 miles away.
