Fawn Ridge is a hard out-and-back hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the West Fork Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. The trail runs about 13.9 miles, with a total elevation gain of 10,904 feet, so the one-way climb is about 5,157 feet. The route starts at a low point of 2,877 feet and reaches a high point of 7,932 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 3.4 miles in, with a grade of 46 percent. The trip takes about 10 hours, and the trail is natural-surfaced. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route lies entirely within designated wilderness. Several other hikes sit within a few miles, including Dwyer-Smith and the Salmon River, both about 2.4 miles away, and Elkhorn Mountain at 3.2 miles. For an overnight base, Wendover Campground is about 4.9 miles away.
