Elkhorn Spring is a short, easy hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the West Fork Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. The trail is about a mile long, with a total elevation gain of 39 feet, and it makes an out-and-back trip from a low point of 7,673 feet to a high of 7,841 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is natural-surfaced and rated easy, so it works well as a quick outing in the wilderness. The climb is minimal, and the trail's short length makes it easy to fit into a longer day of exploring the surrounding area. Elkhorn Mountain lies about 2 miles away, and Eakin Ridge and Dennis Creek are both within about 4 miles. For an overnight stay, Wendover Campground is roughly 4.6 miles off.
