Black Jack Peak is a hard hike in the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 7.7 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 2,664 feet from a low point of about 3,283 feet to the summit at about 5,934 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mullan Pass show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month, while winter highs stay near 28°F. The trail is natural-surface and bikes are allowed, but it is not an accessible route. Conrad Crossing campground and Whitetail Peak are both about 0.8 miles away, and Mosquito Creek is about 0.9 miles off. Conrad Peak is about 1.1 miles away.
