Whitetail Peak is an easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Idaho Panhandle National Forests, within the St. Joe Ranger District. The trail is about 1.3 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 737 feet, and it rises from a low point of 3,344 feet to a high point of 4,089 feet. The route is on natural surface, and bikes are allowed. It is not an accessible trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 84°F in July, with July and August the warmest months. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the peak, so temperatures on top run cooler. The peak's trailhead sits right next to Conrad Crossing campground and the Mosquito Creek hike, both about 0.1 mile away. Conrad Peak is 0.3 mile off, and Black Jack Peak is 0.8 mile away.
