Big Flat is a 3.2-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Payette National Forest, within the Weiser Ranger District. The trail climbs from about 5,360 feet to roughly 6,790 feet, a gain of 1,610 feet, and is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows bikes, so riders can take it on two wheels. The climb is a steady one, and the high point sits well above the starting elevation. Several other hikes lie close by. Fox Prairie and Grizzly Basin are each about 3 miles away, and Cracker Jack Creek is about 4 miles off. For an overnight stay, Buck Park Cabin is about 6.5 miles away.
