Herd Lake Campground is a Bureau of Land Management campground in Idaho, within the Challis Field Office of the BLM. It sits in the backcountry of central Idaho, and the nearest town is Challis, about 19 miles away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run a little cooler. Several trails start close by.
