Phi Kappa Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Lost River Ranger District of Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest. It sits in the high country of the Lost River area, and the nearest town is Ketchum, about 14 miles away. Vault toilets are the only facility listed for the site, and the campground is not reservable. That makes it a simple base for an overnight stay rather than a place to plan around a specific reservation. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ketchum show July highs around 80°F with lows near 45°F, and the station sits roughly 1,600 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at the camp run cooler. Several trails and another campground lie within a few miles. Big Fall Creek is about a mile away, and Park Creek Campground is about 2.6 miles off. The Kane Lake and Kane-Summit hikes are both within about 3.3 miles.
