The Comet Boulder is a bouldering area in the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area in northwest Georgia, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It sits among several other climbing areas, including Hueco Simulator and Chex Area, all within about a tenth of a mile. The area has seven bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale from V1 to V7. Comet Arete is the easiest at V1, and Comet Sit and The Comet are the hardest at V7-8. The median grade is V5. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Valley Head, Alabama, show October highs around 72°F with lows near 48°F, and April highs around 70°F. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The Hood Loop Trail and Rocktown Trail are both within a mile for a walk after climbing. West Chickamauga Creek, about 7 miles away, offers canoeing.
