Chex Area is a bouldering area in northwest Georgia, set within the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area and managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Back Street Boulders, Hueco Simulator and Asphalt Boulders all about 0.1 mile away. The area's five bouldering routes run from V0 to V4, with most around V2. The hardest is Screaming Church Girls at V4, and the easiest is Under the Pews at V0. The routes are all boulders, so there is no climbing on rock faces here. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Valley Head, Alabama, show October highs around 72°F with lows near 48°F, and April highs around 70°F. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the area, so temperatures here run cooler. For a walk, Rocktown Trail is about 0.7 mile away and Hood Loop Trail about 0.8 mile. West Chickamauga Creek, roughly 7 miles off, offers canoeing.
