South Creek is a short, easy out-and-back hike on the Lula Lake Land Trust Site in northwest Georgia, managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail is about 0.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 229 feet from the low point at 1,323 feet to the high at 1,464 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.11 miles in, with a grade of 9 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 73°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar at about 73°F by day and 49°F at night. That station sits roughly 665 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. The trip takes about half an hour. The Homestead Trail and Middle Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the South Creek Trail is also close by. Chattanooga Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 1.9 miles off.
