The route is just over a mile long, with a total elevation gain of about 140 feet, and it starts and ends at roughly 1,440 feet. The steepest stretch comes near the middle of the trail, where the grade reaches about 4%. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 67°F with lows near 51°F, and April highs around 68°F. That station sits about 670 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run a little warmer. The hike takes about half an hour. Access Road and Firewater are both within a third of a mile, and North Creek Trail is about 0.4 miles away. Chattanooga Creek, a paddling spot, is about 2 miles off.
