Great Eastern Trail - Lookout Mountain is a 25.8-mile hike in Cloudland Canyon State Park in northwest Georgia, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The trail is a point-to-point route with a steady climb, rising from about 1,682 feet to a high point of 2,009 feet, and it ends with a descent that totals about 2,790 feet of loss. The one-way climb gains about 2,769 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at mile 19.7, where the grade reaches about 27%. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically October and May, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run around 67°F and 74°F. That station sits at a similar elevation to the trail's high point, so its figures are a fair guide to conditions on the route. The trail starts close to several other routes. Barkeater and Can't Hardly are both about 0.1 mile away, and Atlatl is about 0.6 mile off. Paddlers can find Sitton Gulch Creek about 2.9 miles away.
