Jacks River Fields Campground is a small, secluded campground on the bank of the south fork of the Jacks River in north Georgia. It sits within the Conasauga Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests, on land also part of the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area, and is managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The site's 7 campsites draw campers, hikers and equestrians, and the surrounding forest is a mix of yellow poplar, oak, hickory and white pine. The campground is not reservable, so plan on arriving and securing a spot on site. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jasper show May highs around 75°F and October highs near 69°F, while July peaks around 85°F and winter lows drop to about 31°F in January. Several trails start close by. South Fork is about half a mile away, and Mountaintown Creek is about a mile off. The Conasauga River and the Jacks River hikes are both within about 4 miles.
