Bald Rock Backside is a bouldering area in Connecticut, about 1.7 miles from West Redding. It sits among several other climbing areas, with Small Roof Boulder, Saddle Area and Creekside Area all within about a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes range from V0 to V8, with the median grade around V1-2. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury run from highs near 69°F in May to about 82°F in July, with September easing back to around 74°F. The Split Rock Trail and The Lariat are both about 0.4 miles away for a walk. Paddlers can reach the Still River, about 5 miles off, or the Norwalk River, roughly 7 miles away.
