West Mountain Refuge North Loop is a short, point-to-point hike in Connecticut's West Mountain Refuge, within the reed Section of the refuge. The route is 0.75 miles long, with a low point of 689 feet and a high of 740 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.5 miles in, with a 7% grade. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. The North Loop sits close to several other trails. The West Mountain Refuge South Trail and the West Mtn South Cliff Loop are each about 0.1 mile away, and the West Mountain Refuge North Link to Road is about 0.3 mile off. Mountain Lakes, a climbing area in New York, is about 2.8 miles away.
