Raptor Woods Trail is a 1-mile loop hike in Connecticut, about 1.7 miles from Ansonia. The trail is short and easy, with a total elevation gain of just 11 feet, and it sits at a low point of 367 feet, rising to a high of 466 feet. The climb is gentle, but a steep section of about 16% grade occurs around the 0.78-mile mark. The most comfortable stretch for a walk runs from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ansonia show highs around 69°F in May and 75°F in September, with July and August peaking near 82°F. That station sits roughly 330 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the loop run a bit cooler. Bikes and horses are not allowed on this trail. The Mead School Trail, Old Milan Trail and Redwing Pond Trail all lie about 0.4 miles away, and climbers can head to Frankenrock, roughly 3.3 miles off.
