Hemlock Hollow Loop is an easy loop hike in Connecticut, about 0.9 miles long and rising just 37 feet from its low point of 444 feet to a high of 507 feet. The route is compact, making it a quick outing, and the nearest town is Woodbridge, about 2.3 miles away. The climb is gentle, with a total of 37 feet of gain over the loop. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.16 miles in, with a 7% grade. The trail also drops 105 feet in total over the course of the loop. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ansonia show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 75°F, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the loop run cooler. Other trails sit close by. Peat Swamp Loop is just 0.2 miles away, and the Naugatuck Forest Trail is about a mile off. Climbers can head to Naugatuck State Forest, roughly 2.8 miles away, or to Pay It No Mind Cluster, about 3.6 miles from the loop.
