Fenton River Trail is an easy, short outing in Connecticut, about 0.8 miles from Mansfield Center. The Army Corps of Engineers manages the land, and the trail is a point-to-point route that covers roughly 1.4 miles with a total elevation gain of about 38 feet. It's a gentle walk with a small climb of 10% grade at about the 1.1-mile mark. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 70°F in May to the low 70s in September, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. The Nipmuck Trail - East Branch lies about half a mile away, and the Heritage Trail and Yellow Trail are each about 0.7 miles off. Climbers can find Joshua's Trust Land about 1.3 miles away.
