Cliffside Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 0.3 miles long and rising from 453 feet to 760 feet. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.18 miles in, where the grade reaches 31 percent. The nearest town is Baileyville, about 1.8 miles away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The trip takes about half an hour. The Yellow Trail lies about 1.3 miles away, and the Coginchaug River, Laurel Grove Brook Trail and Little Falls Trail are all within about 4 miles.
