Chimney Trail is a short, easy loop in Connecticut, about 0.26 miles long and rising just 26 feet from its low point of 134 feet to a high of 183 feet. It sits roughly 1.2 miles from Killingworth, and the trail is flat enough to make a quick stop on a longer outing in the area. The route is a loop, so it starts and ends at the same point. It's a low-effort walk, and the climb is gentle, with only a small gain and a little loss over the course of the loop. Horses are allowed, which makes it an option for riders as well as hikers. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mt Carmel show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 85°F. Several other trails and climbing areas lie close by. Broken Bridge, a climbing area, is about 0.1 mile away, and the Nature Trail and Deep Woods Trail are within a third of a mile. Paddlers can reach the Hammonasset River about 2.5 miles off.
